Frail Hope

I will not go into details, but there is a moment when one is faced with the reality of disappointed hopes.

And also the reality that you were the one who stoked the fire that was the hope, and not only stoked the fire, but put in the kindling, then the nice, stout logs, then struck the match and threw it on the whole mess. So, it is only natural that you should be the one to watch those hopes burn.

My plans are not God's plans. I have burned down my self-wrought hope.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

The song that comes to mind is When you Believe from Prince of Egypt. I am in a weird mood this morning!
